Q: What drives your passion for your sport?

Shrivalli: I initially started tennis because I was obsessed with the dresses and the overall health benefits. However, as I continued playing, I developed a passion for the sport, and it became a part of who I am. As I competed, I loved being on the court, doing something different from others. It hasn't been easy, but it's been memorable.

Q: What's a memorable moment that's shaped your athletic career??

Shrivalli: One recent moment that stands out was when I won against world number 98 Nao Hibino at the Mumbai Open. It was one of the biggest highs I've experienced.

 

Q: How do you handle setbacks and stay motivated?

Shrivalli: Handling setbacks is a significant challenge. However, I believe it's what makes athletes stronger. Tennis is a sport where you experience more losses than wins. Every match is part of my journey, and whether I win or lose, there's always something to learn. I'm fortunate to have a close-knit team that keeps me motivated and encouraged, regardless of the result.

Training and Nutrition

Q. Walk us through your typical training day.

Shrivalli: My day starts at 5:00 am with mobility exercises and meditation. Then, I head to tennis practice from 8:00-11:00 am. After a quick lunch, I practice again in the afternoon, followed by strength, speed, or endurance training in the evening. I end the day with mental preparation work and spend time with my family.

 

Q. How do you fuel your body for optimal performance?

Shrivalli: I maintain a proper diet, which changes depending on my schedule. I've worked with nutritionists, experimented with different foods, and observed how my body reacts. I try to follow a personalized diet plan.

 

Q. Do you practice mindfulness or meditation?

Shrivalli: Absolutely! I believe it's essential for competing at a high level. Mindfulness and meditation help me stay focused and composed.

Q. How do you prioritize your physical and mental health?

Shrivalli: I maintain a consistent routine, regardless of my location or schedule. I regularly go for massages, physio sessions, and practice breathing techniques.

 

Q. What wellness practices help you recover and recharge?

Shrivalli:  I prioritize a balanced diet, timely sleep, and hydration. These habits help me maintain my energy levels and support my overall well-being.

 

Q. How do you stay hydrated during competitions?

Shrivalli:  Staying hydrated starts long before the competition. I make adjustments to my diet and hydration levels to ensure I'm well-prepared. During matches, I drink water and a sports drink, accompanied by bananas or dates.

Q. How do you balance your athletic career with other aspects of your life?

Shrivalli: I follow a routine and prioritize tasks on a daily basis.

 

Q. What do you like to do in your free time?

Ans: I enjoy watching movies, spending time with family, and reading books.

 

Q. How do you stay connected with your support network?

Ans: I'm close to my support network, and we regularly keep in touch through phone calls or in-person meetings.
